Memorial Day prayer On this day we remember the sacrifices made for us by those who were willing to give their lives to ensure that our own would be spent in freedom. Let us never forget to pray, not only for the dead, but also for those still living and working in the cause of freedom around the world. As we celebrate and enjoy this time, give comfort and grace to those men and women who have sacrificed so much for our sake. St. Martin, St. George and St. Joan of Arc: pray for the protection of our soldiers in their efforts, and bring them home safely at the end of their duties wherever that home may be. Amen |

CONGRATULATIONS to Josh Tibbetts (son of Dave and Debbie Tibbetts) and alternate Sara Branum (daughter of Aaron & Joyce Branum). This Sunday we celebrate the mystery of God as one but yet three. Unlike our human communities with an odd number of members, the Trinity is a perfectly harmonious, dynamic unity. We are unable to fully grasp with our intellect the mystery of divine Three-in-One. Nonetheless, our triune God is not a distant, uncaring deity. God desires to be personally encountered by us. God chooses to reveal the divine Self to us and be present to us. The readings for this solemnity describe the majesty of God in the many ways we encounter the divine among us: in creation that is tangible and all around us, in Jesus of Nazareth who lived among us and is then the risen Lord who commands us to continue his saving mission, and in the Holy Spirit who is poured forth in our hearts. The glory of God’s presence is encountered through creation, salvation, and each other! Perhaps, then, the greatest mystery of the Trinity is not so much how God can be Three-in-One but why this God chooses to be intimately present to us. Perhaps the greatest mystery is that the triune community of the Trinity wishes to dwell within the diverse community of humanity. Surely this mystery of our God is so great that we “cannot bear it now” fully. The fullness of “all truth” would be overwhelming if we heard it in its full power, for the ultimate revelation-“all truth”-is the gift of the Trinity itself dwelling within and among us. This festival celebrates the mystery that the life and love of the Trinity “has been poured out into our hearts”. As we faithfully live Jesus command to make known the Good News, we gradually become aware that no one of us can reveal God, but together, in community, we are the presence. The stronger the community in openness to encountering God, the clearer to us is the revelation of divine presence. We gradually learn from each other how much God loves us by the divine presence that we encounter and mediate for each other. The majesty of the Trinity defies any intellectual unraveling of the mystery. An intellectual exercise is not what God reveals to us or asks of us. God gives triune Self to us simply so that we can encounter God’s glory and share among us the grace, peace, and hope of divine presence.

OUR PRIVILEGE, OUR RIGHT, AND
OUR DUTY
As it is written ‘Even if these forget, yet I will not forget you.’ (Is 49:15):
We in the Catholic Church in the Community of St. Patrick remember, hold in our memory, and pray for the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces especially: Cody Amick, Ryan Thomas Blackwood, Douglas Bower Jr., Ryan Bridges, Lonnie Brown, Nathan Brown, Jeremy Burke, Carlos Bustamante, Adamm Creel, Isaiah Creel, David Davis, Loyd Davis, Kenny Doleac, Brad Dunn, Brian Dykeman, Bill Ellis, Adam Ferrell, David Hannon, April Kennedy, Patrick Kirsch, Mike Krzmarzick, Jessica Krzmarzick (wife of Michael Krzmarzick) Johnny Lugo, Adam Lulay, Alex Martin, Jordan Morelli, John Nguyen, Robert Nolan, Daniel Olsen, Robert Selner, Tarl Spencer, John Suchanek, Leah Sundquist, Brian Thomas, Kenneth Thorpe, CJ Trillo, Jonathan Turner, William Walsh, Erik Wiesehan, Ivan Wilson and John Zagyva, may they be servants of Christ through service to those in need, and may they be kept safe from all harm.
PRAYER FOR THOSE IN ARMED FORCES
Heavenly Father,
be with our men and women as they serve our country. When they are faced with danger,
give them the courage of Michael the Archangel,
who was victorious over evil.
When our soldiers are faced with difficult choices
give them the discernment of St. Martin of Tours,
the soldier who remembered to aid the meek and helpless.
When our soldiers are injured or forced to the sidelines,
give them the guidance you gave to St. Ignatius of Loyola,
who turned a time of pain and recovery from a war wound into a new life of trust in you.
